Could you get this moved to its own section?
Nope ~RQ But I'll do it... Wait, nevermind, I can't make new sections. Darn. ~FF~

| No one wants to talk about anything? It doesn't have to be serious, or political. It could be something like whether or not the sky is blue or green, or which video game is the best and why, or if you feel so inclined it could be something serious like why you think torture is wrong. | |

| Okay Azk. Should foreign countries be able to donate money to electoral campaigns of another country? | |

| Hehe, I actually can't really speculate on that topic because in Australia the campaigns aren't really a massive thing (kinda like Halloween...), but it seems to me that it would be unfair if they were donating money to support only one party of another country, but I guess why not if both parties receive equal wages. | |

| Elections in my area are a pretty big thing. I do not think that foriegn countries should be allowed to donate money to the political campaigns of another country because they are funding the party who is closest to their political beliefs and are pretty much buying the election. | |

| In my opinion, no they should not be able to. but it wont matter, they would just send the money else where, like to PACs or interest groups, that right there is what we need to stop.

| Well, at least based on how it is over here in Norway, i don't think donating to political campaigns should be allowed in the first place because of that it's basically just corruption.
I don't know how it is over in the USA or other places like that, but at least here, there is no reason to do it. The political parties over here gain enough coverage by television, radio and other things without having to pay anything for it. As long as they have had enough votes to at least get one person of the party into one of the 169 places in the parliament on the last election, then they get to join debates and alike on all kinds of medias all the time and don't really need anymore than that.

| They might as well. People already buy it, legal or not.
Make it legal, tax the hell out of it, profit.

Yeah, but more in depth i meant xD Like, why should it stay illegal? When it is illegal, it spawns lots of other things against the law, smuggling, fights between drug dealers(with guns) and so on, i guess you know about those things, and they would cease if it became legal(or on the places it became legal at least) xP

| Thing is its less lethal than other stuff and its still illegal...
I'm pretty anti-drugs in any situation but its kind of contradictory for the government to make it illegal.
Keep it illegal but if your going to keep it thataway atleast change the policies on other things. eg. alcohol

| Yeah, but you still haven't answered my question xD Why should it stay illegal? What harm would it do to the user/society? Not trying to imply that there aren't anything, but i just want to hear it from one of you that wants to keep it illegal. | |

| I'm actually pretty pro-drugs I guess, I don't have anything against people taking them in mild doses, but anything more than mild is seriously health impacting and screws people up pretty badly. In Australia one of the states (or territory really), the ACT, allows people to have marijuana in quantities enough for personal use, but no more, so basically 2 or 3 plants per person. That seems to work pretty well. Just to blurt out a statistic, my legal studies teacher told me that drug cartels in South America and that area make some stupid amount of money like $230 million a day or something (I might be remembering incorrectly). But still, if they legalize drugs but put limits on them it means a huge amount of crime will be reduced and also the country will have a massive economic injection.
So yeah, sorry Tholo but looks like I support it too. I guess people could argue that drugs damage your health severely, but it's been proven that cigarettes and alcohol are just as, if not more damaging and they are legal already. Also, that's just marijuana, some of the other drugs such as heroine, crack and morphine are far more potent and absolutely decimate lives, so I'm against legalizing the "hard" drugs. Marijuana > Cigarettes though.

| Well I guess the fear is that if you legalize marijuana the crime will reemerge to the surface instead of going underground and if you legalize it its just gonna make criminals attempt far worse things, thinking they can get away from the law.
Like Azk said, its not as bad in minor usage but once it gets on a scale of serious addiction and "needing" the drugs its a completely different matter. People will do anything when they're addicted to something.
